As part of the PJ Library program that KSI has been developing for several years, last Friday, October 15, we introduced our children to the books Man gave names to all the animals y The Generous Fish.
In the Shabbat Yachad space we work with the book Man Gave Names to All the Animals, which tells us that after creating Adam, Adonai gives him the task of giving names to all the creatures of Gan Eden. Adonai not only asks him to name the animals, but also to help him care for and preserve the beauty of the natural world.
We shared the story, talked about the names of each of the children and why they were called that way. “It’s the name my parents gave me”, or “My parents really liked this name, that’s why I’m called that” were the most shared answers, but we also heard stories about nicknames or nicknames and how they received them.
The children then prepared bookmarks and room decorations with their names on them to help identify their belongings and places.
