We share some of Ezekiel’s reflections on his Parashah and this very special ceremony for him:
The Parashah begins by saying “Ki tavó el haaretz” (when you come to the land) and indicates all that the people of Israel should do upon entering Canaan. And Adonai told them that after sowing and working the land, they should separate the first fruit they obtain and take it to the Temple to give it to the Cohen Gadol.
After they delivered the first fruits, also called Bikurim, (the feast of Shavuot is the feast of the Bikurim) the Israelites had to make a statement that they were delivered by God from slavery and that He had now brought them to the Promised Land, and therefore they delivered those fruits as thanksgiving.
Mazal Tov to Ezekiel and all his family.
