KSI Sisterhood enjoyed class in the sukkah

After many months, the members and friends of the KSI Sisterhood met again last Thursday, September 23rd, to listen to a Sukkah class by Morah Ruthy about the holiday of Sukkot.

On this occasion, the title of the VeLimud Café was Sukkot and ushpizot. For this reason, we talked about the  Ushpizin (Aramaic word for guests), who are biblical personalities that were invited, one per night, to the sukkah to join the celebration. Likewise, the parallelism, from medieval times, with the seven women prophetesses included in the Talmud was explained .

These lists evolved over time. In this regard, Rabbi Regina Jonas, who was a pioneering Jewish theologian and the first woman to be ordained as a rabbi in the modern era, was discussed. She was murdered in Auschwitz in October 1944.

The other personality we met was Nejama Leibowitz, a teacher and a true Bible scholar. In fact, she is one of the pioneers in the literary-aesthetic approach to biblical interpretation.

The KSI Sisterhood thanks all the friends who participated and hopes to meet again soon.
