On May 14, 1876, the Kol Shearith Israel Congregation was founded in Panama City, Panama. Kol Shearith Israel Congregation was founded in Panama City. Like so many other similar institutions throughout Latin America, its initial objective was to provide funeral services to its members through the administration of a cemetery that would allow burial, following the traditional Jewish ritual, and also to carry out charitable works.
