CIR carried out symbolic lighting of Chanukah candles

Last Thursday, December 2, 2021, representatives of the Isaac Rabin College (CIR) gathered at the premises of the institution together with members of the City of Knowledge Foundation and Rabbi Gustavo to carry out a symbolic lighting of the Chanukah candles.

The following are the words of Judith Fernandez, President of the Isaac Rabin Foundation:

For the Isaac Rabin Foundation it is an honor to be part of a new initiative such as the lighting of the Chanukah candles at the headquarters of our school, in the heart of the City of Knowledge.

This symbolic act, although it takes place in a temporary place for us, is for the entire educational community the home of our school since the date of its foundation in a privileged area such as the City of Knowledge.

With the lighting of the candles we remember the ancient story of Israel’s courage and the power of faith to illuminate the darkness in difficult times.

We wish at this time to recall the words of the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Yitzhak Rabin:

“We know the nature of candles: one can illuminate in the dark, but the wind can put an end to the light. So that’s what life is all about, keeping the light and avoiding winds that put an end to it. Light is necessary to show the best part of our existence. Light is basically optimism. The more we see and believe, the more we see and can love, the more we see and the more we can distinguish”.

We would like to thank Congregation Kol Shearith Israel and the City of Knowledge Foundation for joining us in this symbolic act of Chanukah.
