Next Monday, young Nicolas Fryda, son of Daniel and Mariana, will be called to the Torah for the first time, thus assuming his adult status among the Jewish people.<\/p>\n

We share some of Nico’s reflections on his parashah:<\/p>\n

The double parashah Behar-Bechukotai begins with God’s command to Moses to tell the people that upon entering the land, the land itself should observe a year of rest every seventh year in honor of God. For 6 years the Jews could sow their fields, harvest their produce and plant their vineyards, but at the time of the coming of the seventh year the land would have a year of rest. In that sabbatical year whatever grew from the land could be used by all for daily consumption.  <\/i><\/p>\n

In my opinion, last year we had a sabbatical year, why? Well, if we look at it, it was a year where most things were stopped as well as the harvest in the seventh year, less cars on the street, less people polluting with their garbage, and we could say that it was a sabbatical year for the earth, it was able to rest during this year and that is something positive for the environment.  <\/i><\/p>\n
